Specialized Mountain Bikes

Specialized Bicycle Components, Inc.

Specialized mountain bikes are known for innovations in the biking industry that meet the demands of discerning mountain bike riders. Specialized, or more correctly Specialized Bicycle Components, Inc., founded by Mike Sinyard in 1974, introduced the first mass-produced mountain bike, called the StumpJumper, in 1981. The StumpJumper was such a ground-breaking product that an original model of the 500 that were produced that year is on display in the Smithsonian Institute. Specialized still produces the StumpJumper line of mountain bikes, albeit somewhat evolved since the 1981 model.

Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. is now the fourth-largest maker of bicycles. The company continues to innovate and offers a full range of mountain bikes including cross country, all mountain, freeride and downhill. Their lines of mountain bikes include S-Works, Epic, Enduro, Demo, P. Bikes, Rockhopper, Hardrock, and of course the StumpJumper.

Specialized bikes are also fitted with a full range of quality third-party components such as Shimano, SRAM, Avid, Rock Shox, Fox, and DT Swiss. The company also uses Specialized-built components on some of their high end bikes.
In addition to their bike line, Specialized also licenses a line of accessories as well, from clothing and helmets.
